Electronic Cat Toy
Developed an electronic cat toy to grab cats attention better than current devices. Sent the toy to Telebrands (aka Bulbhead), which is the worlds largest ASTOV company. The toy made it through multiple rounds of testing (etc surveys, web sales) to make it to the final test where Telebrands created and filmed a full length TV commercial for the toy all free of charge. The commercial was shown on TV and tested for sales with real tv viewer customers. Passing this test would mean a nation/worldwide rollout, manufacture of millions of devices, and collection of royalties per each device sold. Unfortunately, the sales numbers received from the ad were just below their go/nogo metric and so the toy and its rights was released back to me. The prototype was created using my personal 3d printer, Arduino and a custom built iphone app that was launched on the App-store for testing. The app allowed the user to actuate the toy manually or to move the toy using an auto switch function where the toy would move on its own in a randomized pattern. The toy was controlled by a servo motor, which would tip the ball tower from side to side, keeping the balls in constant motion.
